Pool Inspection Requirements For Accommodation Providers

A Pool Inspection is required under option 1 if you are a Hotel, Motel, Resort & Caravan park, Hostel, Backpackers or similar business that rents rooms and have a pool on site, you are required to apply to the new laws. There are two options.

Option 1

As from the 1st June 2011 you must display a Pool Safety Certificate. The Queensland Government has made it mandatory to have a pool inspection done by a licensed pool inspector. This certificate insures you have passed the pool safety standards required. The main reason is to assist in every way we can to stop pool drownings by having good fencing & latest cardio pulmonary resuscition (CPR) signage displayed near pool. Remember adult supervision is still the best safety in preventing drownings.

Note: You cannot book out rooms if you do not have a pool safety certificate or a exemption.

Your certificate will last 1 year and Gold Coast Pool Compliance keeps records and will notify you before they expire to insure you don’t lose any income. Don’t wait book now. Pricing POD.

For any enquiries you can contact us or book a pool inspection.

Option 2

Under the new legislation, hotels, motels, resorts and other class 3 buildings have an option to adopt a pool safety management plan as an alternative to constructing a compliant pool barrier.

Pool safety management plans must be approved by the department. Information to assist pool owners to develop a pool safety management plan and details of how to apply for a plan are contained in the pool safety management plan guidelines.
